ThatFile Update, version 1.3.6.0

ThatFile version 1.3.6.0 brings some great new features and a few bug fixes.

Column View - Fixed some flickering during subnav changes. Column view (miller columns) is an excellent way to navigate to your content. There are several toolbar functions that alter the subnavs, like Trace and Collapse.

Auto-Scaling Previews - As you navigate through directories, the preview window will automatically adjust to fill the empty unused space, until the subnavs get to the point where the horizontal scrollbar is activated, then the preview window will default to the pre-defined size, which is user adjustable and can be achieved by dragging the preview edge to a position. Previews have multiple settings associated with it, which can be altered by the settings window.

Tabs - File Explorer doesn't yet support tabs, which can have a huge impact on establishing a good workflow. ThatFile supports basically unlimited tabs, eventually they'll crowd the UI. The tab field shows the currently selected item name, so you can identify which tab is which.

Tags - ThatFile uses a tagging system to organize your content into single-click favorites, accessible from the MainNav. There are 10 tags available for use by users. I will eventually re-tool this feature to make it so there is no pre-built tag count, so users can add as many tags as they want. This feature change will take some time to complete, as I also will need to provide a way to convert users' existing tags into the new tag system.

Split-View - Allows users to be in two places at once. Split-View supports drag/drop from other sources, including the Desktop and the other Split-View. There are also some embedded functions available as a right-click option under the Split-View toolbar icon.

Multi-Image Preview - Using this powerful image preview feature, you can view multiple images, then select the image you're looking for.

Merge Mode - Combine multiple folders' content into a single subnav.

Tag Filtering - Now you can filter through your tagged content.

Directory Search - Search through your directory contents quickly with this new feature.

Zip Items - Compress/Decompress your stuff, using this built-in zip feature.

Related Menu - As you navigate directories, a "Related" list will be cross-referenced against your histories. This list will re-build every time a new folder or file is selected, to show you down-stream content previously accessed.

URL & CSS Previews - This cool feature will read the data from a "URL" shortcut, so you can quickly preview your URL files. Also CSS previews will show a quick preview or your CSS files.

PDF Previews - Finally finished implemented this feature. OH BOY, was this a complex build. I'll still don't think its perfect; but as long as you have the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, it works great. Check out this
Blog post regarding PDF Preview steps.

Video Previews - An equally complex feature to implement was Video Previews. I created another
Blog Post indicating some work-arounds to get video previews working properly if using Nvidia GPU.
